Join the celebration: Wagga Wagga Mardi Gras invites local talent to shine on new community stage

Local musicians, performers and artists will have an opportunity to perform at this year’s Wagga Wagga Mardi Gras with the introduction of the festival’s community stage.

Wagga Wagga Mardi Gras Founder Holly Conroy said the idea for the community stage was born from a desire to recognise and celebrate the abundance of creative people in the region.

“This region is home to so many talented people; musicians, artists, performers, dancers and more,” Holly said.

“We wanted to give locals a space to show off their skills, entertain the community, and join in the joy and celebration of Mardi Gras.”

Community stage performances are scheduled to run alternately with the main Mardi Gras stage performances on the evening of Saturday 9 March 2024, effectively doubling the entertainment on offer for attendees. There will also be open mic opportunities.

Local performers keen to hit the community stage are encouraged to apply for a spot by emailing hello@waggamardigras.com

Applications are to include a brief description of the act, along with any relevant links to portfolios, performances, or social media profiles.

The Wagga Wagga Mardi Gras Committee is also seeking to appoint a local creative to organise the acts and MC the community stage on the night.

All applications must be submitted by midnight, Friday 16 February to be considered for the community stage lineup.

“You or your group don’t need to be professional performers,’ Holly said.

“We’re open to anyone who can bring something joyful, entertaining and engaging for festival goers to enjoy.”
